2012 Cannes Offering the Best Dressed Celebs in Town

Cannes has always been the playground for the designer houses. Tuxedos and gowns of the best cuts and colors have always been the highlight of the Cannes red carpet fashion. Tinsel town ladies seem to know that it is the ensemble on this red carpet that can make or break many a fashionista and either get them crowned as the diva of the day or get them trashed as fashion garbage. But this year, in the year 2012, this French Riviera has showcased both the best dressed as well as the worst dressed red carpet celebrities by raising (or crashing, as the case may be) the bar to a whole new level. So, let us look at some of the best women’s designer clothes that made their way to the Cannes 2012 red carpet hall of fame. Here are some of the ‘best actress + designer’ clothes pairings.

Salma Hayek and Gucci

This red carpet pairing was a definite hit with Salma’s gown fitting her like second skin on a body that is already envious. The burgundy-ish brown studded Gucci gown with its deep scooping neckline ensured that no one could take their eyes off Salma, while the tulle skirt with just a wisp of a trail, ensured that her body appeared like a perfectly sculpted hourglass. Needless to say that this was one certain ‘hit’ combination.

Eva Longoria and Marchesa

There was no one who even came close to Eva Longoria in style perfections for this beauty nailed her red carpet dresses two nights in a row. First it was a sultry gown with a deep v-neck that went right down below her bust. The sleeveless dress was in the faintest shade of rose and had sharp lines accentuating the flow of the skirt. Night number 2 saw this gorgeous damsel in a blush colored Marchesa gown that was completely fairy-tale-like and had a ‘Cinderella at her ball’ type of flared, ruffled skirt. The v-neck body hugging number was an embellishment like no other on this stunning beauty.

Frieda Pinto and Atelier Versace

Frieda Pinto was the Cannes surprise package in a lime green dress from Atelier Versace’s spring/summer 2012 collection. The thigh high slit, the lace and crystal embellishments on the skit and the wave-like detailing on the hip, all work wonders on Frieda’s overall look.

Diane Kruger and Giambattista Valli Houte Couture

Diane Kruger pulled a stunner at the Cannes by donning a black lace number that was superlatively enhanced with a navy-blue asymmetrical sash running from one shoulder to the other heel. Her tight bun and the diamond and sapphire earrings completed the pretty picture she made on the red carpet. The custom aqua silk dress made her look glamorous, sleek and sophisticated.

Jane Fonda and Atelier Versace

74 years old Jane Fonda wiped away her years in a jiffy with a shimmering, fitted gown and a beaming grin. The body hugging white dress belied her age and aptly put all the attention on her perfect hourglass figure.

Other Cannes 2012 Stars and Starlets

French-Argentine actress Berenice Bejo wore a coral blue gown in soft chiffon. Pink and white crystal detailing, violet embroidery in soft florals and the overall cut of this strapless Miuccia Prada creation looked angelic on her frame.

French actress Marion Cotillard looked stunning in a strapless dress with a black bodice and dark blue flounce skirt. A patent leather belt at the waist made the Dior creation the envy of numerous onlookers. The best complement to the dress and the look was young actor Armand Verdure right by her side. Now that is called a complete red carpet look if you ask me!!

And then there was Eva Herzigova who proved that the Cannes red carpet as not just about the dress but also about the jewelry. Her light blush Dolce and Gabbana gown was perfectly complemented with some fantastic Chopard jewelry. She sported a white gold and diamond necklace that is designed by Scheufele. The piece was delicately styled in intricate lace patterns, accessories truly befitting of the Cannes.
