2012 Cannes Offering the Best Dressed Celebs in Town

Cannes has always been the playground for the designer houses. Tuxedos and gowns of the best cuts and colors have always been the highlight of the Cannes red carpet fashion. Tinsel town ladies seem to know that it is the ensemble on this red carpet that can make or break many a fashionista and either get them crowned as the diva of the day or get them trashed as fashion garbage. But this year, in the year 2012, this French Riviera has showcased both the best dressed as well as the worst dressed red carpet celebrities by raising (or crashing, as the case may be) the bar to a whole new level. So, let us look at some of the best women’s designer clothes that made their way to the Cannes 2012 red carpet hall of fame. Here are some of the ‘best actress + designer’ clothes pairings.

Salma Hayek and Gucci

This red carpet pairing was a definite hit with Salma’s gown fitting her like second skin on a body that is already envious. The burgundy-ish brown studded Gucci gown with its deep scooping neckline ensured that no one could take their eyes off Salma, while the tulle skirt with just a wisp of a trail, ensured that her body appeared like a perfectly sculpted hourglass. Needless to say that this was one certain ‘hit’ combination.

Eva Longoria and Marchesa

There was no one who even came close to Eva Longoria in style perfections for this beauty nailed her red carpet dresses two nights in a row. First it was a sultry gown with a deep v-neck that went right down below her bust. The sleeveless dress was in the faintest shade of rose and had sharp lines accentuating the flow of the skirt. Night number 2 saw this gorgeous damsel in a blush colored Marchesa gown that was completely fairy-tale-like and had a ‘Cinderella at her ball’ type of flared, ruffled skirt. The v-neck body hugging number was an embellishment like no other on this stunning beauty.

Frieda Pinto and Atelier Versace

Frieda Pinto was the Cannes surprise package in a lime green dress from Atelier Versace’s spring/summer 2012 collection. The thigh high slit, the lace and crystal embellishments on the skit and the wave-like detailing on the hip, all work wonders on Frieda’s overall look.

Diane Kruger and Giambattista Valli Houte Couture

Diane Kruger pulled a stunner at the Cannes by donning a black lace number that was superlatively enhanced with a navy-blue asymmetrical sash running from one shoulder to the other heel. Her tight bun and the diamond and sapphire earrings completed the pretty picture she made on the red carpet. The custom aqua silk dress made her look glamorous, sleek and sophisticated.

Jane Fonda and Atelier Versace

74 years old Jane Fonda wiped away her years in a jiffy with a shimmering, fitted gown and a beaming grin. The body hugging white dress belied her age and aptly put all the attention on her perfect hourglass figure.

Other Cannes 2012 Stars and Starlets

French-Argentine actress Berenice Bejo wore a coral blue gown in soft chiffon. Pink and white crystal detailing, violet embroidery in soft florals and the overall cut of this strapless Miuccia Prada creation looked angelic on her frame.

French actress Marion Cotillard looked stunning in a strapless dress with a black bodice and dark blue flounce skirt. A patent leather belt at the waist made the Dior creation the envy of numerous onlookers. The best complement to the dress and the look was young actor Armand Verdure right by her side. Now that is called a complete red carpet look if you ask me!!

And then there was Eva Herzigova who proved that the Cannes red carpet as not just about the dress but also about the jewelry. Her light blush Dolce and Gabbana gown was perfectly complemented with some fantastic Chopard jewelry. She sported a white gold and diamond necklace that is designed by Scheufele. The piece was delicately styled in intricate lace patterns, accessories truly befitting of the Cannes.

History Of Fashion Designing

What Is Fashion Design ?

Fashion design is a form of art dedicated to the creation of clothing and other lifestyle accessories. Modern fashion design is divided into two basic categories: haute couture and ready-to-wear. The haute couture collection is dedicated to certain customers and is custom sized to fit these customers exactly. In order to qualify as a haute couture house, a designer has to be part of the Syndical Chamber for Haute Couture and show a new collection twice a year presenting a minimum of 35 different outfits each time.

Ready-to-wear collections are standard sized, not custom made, so they are more suitable for large production runs. They are also split into two categories: designer/createur and confection collections. Designer collections have a higher quality and finish as well as an unique design. They often represent a certain philosophy and are created to make a statement rather than for sale. Both ready-to-wear and haute-couture collections are presented on international catwalks.

HISTORY

Fashion design was originally made popular as a branch of study in applied art in major art schools. It basically, then, focused on design of clothing by employing different creative patterns to achieve an aesthetic finish. However, the first man who took dressmaking to commercially viable stage was Charles Frederick Worth, who died in the year 1895.

Finally, in the mid-nineteen century Worth's great-grandson closed up his shop, but the big oak seed he planted in Paris continue its upward growth. Ever since, the world of fashion design has gone through so many changes, evolving into higher realms from one generation to another until it reached its present level, today.

Now, there are great fashion designers known continentally and internationally. We now have Tommy Hilfiger, Dior, Thierry Hermès, Tommy Bahama, Guccio Gucci, Ecko, Stefano Gabbana, Ralph Lauren, Polo, Cole Hann, Andrew Marc and so many heavyweights designers. These later generations developed a system whereby artists were paid to brainstorm and sketch or paint unique designs for garments, which were basically presented to potential buyers before turning the artist impression into original garment. This idea gave rise to the modern fashion design industry whose main products is now known the world over as Designer wear.

Cashmere Scarf: A Must-Have

Fashion has seen so many trends come and go. One minute we are aboard the bandwagon of wearing high-waist bottoms to wearing the latest items like bags, sunglasses and everything else that the fashion influencers can think of. However, one thing is for certain and that is that when it comes to accessories, cashmere scarf is probably one of the biggest must-haves that anyone could ever have.

A cashmere scarf is one of the most important tools of the fashion world because of its versatile ability to just be perfect and suitable with just about any outfit that you could think of. Not only that, cashmere scarves also have a timeless appeal that everyone can surely appreciate because it means not having to spend more than what is necessary when it comes to stocking up on scarves.

It comes in different colors. You can go from the plain basic ones to see you through days in the office or for more event-appropriate moments. Younger stylish women usually lean towards wearing those in bright and vibrant colors such as shocking pink, blue, yellow or even neon green. Some people who are feeling a bit more adventurous and daring, they go for crazy prints like the very popular and chic animal prints like the zebra stripes or the leopard's spots. Whatever you may choose to wear, you can be assured that you will always look oh so fabulous each and every single time you adorn yourself with one.

Another factor that makes cashmere scarves so important and almost as essential as the basics is its many practical uses. After all, it is not always just about the style. Dressing up is never just about the style alone. For one, scarves are used to make you feel warm and comfortable especially during the cold season. It can keep you from getting the chills when you are out on a hot date. With cashmere scarves, you can absolutely cover up and not feel uncomfortable in any situation. Of course, they are also really chic and if you are wearing one, you will definitely not feel underdressed or not as posh as others.

Compared to jackets or coats, a cashmere scarf is lightweight. It will not feel very much like a burden when you do decide to take it off during the middle of the day or of an event. You can simply untie it and fold it and put it aside without too much hassle. Some even can tie it as a cute add-on to their bags when talking about not so thick and big scarves. When you compare it to sweaters and cardigans, scarves are better because they are usually more stylish and attractive to look at as the former are more traditional and even too safe at times. When it comes down to it, cashmere scarves are your best bet to everything.

In fashion, one day you are in and the next day you are out. But one can absolutely be assured that a cashmere scarf is definitely one that will still be at the top of its game in years to come.
